About Al-Shabbir

By the grace of Allah Subhanhu Ta’ala we are able to offer below services for the community by the community.

Al-Shabbir works to build healthy communities, strengthen families and create opportunities for those in despair while maintaining their dignity and advocating for their basic human needs.

Our aim is to provide religious and social services to all community members who need help and to provide channels of understanding and communication between Al-Shabbir and the Houston community in general. We aim to live our vision by providing a variety of services that range from educational, to charitable, social and religious services.

Al-Shabbir is a non-profit tax-exempt organization that has been formed exclusively for educational, religious, and social purposes. It is registered with the Internal Revenue Service.

All of its activities are in accordance with the teachings of the Quran and following the teachings and traditions of Prophet Mohammed (Peace Be upon Him).

Al-Shabbir is a multi-ethnic, multi-racial, multi-lingual, non-sectarian, diverse, and open community committed to full and equal participation and involvement of men and women who are community members of Al-Shabbir and subscribe to accept its rules, regulations, and procedures. Al-Shabbir is committed to civic and civil engagement with communities of other faiths and society at large.

Our doors are open to all community members, however if you wish to become an official member of Al-Shabbir, please note that Al-Shabbir membership is open to all Muslims 18 years of age or above who:

  • Subscribe to the objectives of Al-Shabbir set forth in Article 2 of the Al-Shabbir Constitution
  • Agree to work under the general guidance of Al-Shabbir BOD and the constitutional framework of Al-Shabbir.

Al-Shabbir has several full time Imams and an Office-Manager as well as access to numerous other scholars that provide religious, educational, and Islamic counseling services to the community.

Our Motives:

  1. Arranging educational programs for all members of the family.
  2. Promoting joint action among Muslim organizations of the Greater Houston and surroundings areas.
  3. Establishing congregational prayers and carry out other religious activities that are available to all community members.
  4. Developing mutual understanding with and among non-Muslims in order to communicate effectively the principles of Islam to them.
  5. We believe in the importance of good governance, ethical management practices and accountability to our donors.
